I played for England and Tottenham but would rather see Arsenal win the double than Three Lions win Euro 2024.
Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent caused a stir on talkSPORT.
He admitted that he would prioritize seeing Arsenal win a trophy over England’s success in Euro 2024, despite having played for both the Three Lions and Spurs.

In an interview on talkSPORT Drive, Bent, who scored 25 goals in 79 appearances for Tottenham, revealed his allegiance as an Arsenal fan outweighed his desire to see England triumph internationally.

He initially expressed that during his playing career, achieving success with the national team was his primary focus
Ex-Tottenham player Bent shocking claims
However, when pressed by co-host Andy Goldstein about his preferences as a supporter, Bent didn’t hesitate to prioritize Arsenal’s success.
When asked to choose between an Arsenal Premier League title and an England Euros win, Bent firmly stated, “As an Arsenal fan, I want the league. I want Arsenal over anything.”

Goldstein proposed a compromise, suggesting an FA Cup win for Arsenal alongside an England Euros victory.
While Bent admitted it would be a “close” decision, he maintained his preference for Arsenal’s domestic success.
Bent reiterated his stance, emphasizing that winning the Champions League or Premier League with Arsenal would trump any international glory: “Champions League, Premier League over anything.”
He even suggested that a domestic cup double for Arsenal would take precedence over an historic England triumph.
Darren Bent remains defiant
Refusing to budge from his position, Bent asserted, “FA Cup and League Cup. Nope, I’m not joking you. FA Cup, League Cup. Arsenal.” Goldstein expressed disbelief, admitting, “I just find that nuts, I really do.”

Despite Andy Goldstein’s incredulity, Bent remained steadfast, reiterating, “As a fan, I’m club over country.”
The conversation came in the wake of manager Gareth Southgate revealing that Arsenal’s Ben White had declined selection for the England squad, sparking discussion about players’ loyalties.
Bent’s candid admission sparked debate about the priorities of players-turned-fans and highlighted the enduring allegiance many hold for their club over international success.
