Former Barcelona star Dani Alves managed to secure his release by meeting the bail conditions, which required him to pay £850,000.
This enabled his return home by 4 pm UK time (5 pm local time). Alves, who had been convicted of rape, complied with the court’s orders, which included surrendering his Spanish and Brazilian passports.
Dani Alves bail
Although he was granted permission to leave prison last Wednesday pending an appeal of his four-and-a-half-year sentence, difficulties in raising the required funds kept him incarcerated.
Reports suggest that initially, Neymar’s father was expected to assist Alves in paying the bail. However, he later denied any involvement, citing political pressure. Despite attempts by the footballer’s legal team to secure bail, citing concerns about flight risk, they were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Sports Buddy reported in recent news that Brazilian forward Neymar was criticised for his supposed “absurd” involvement in the Alves sexual assault case after the latter was given a four-and-a-half-year jail sentence.
The release of Alves sparks controversy
Alves is now expected to reside in his £4 million home in Esplugues de Llobregat, west of Barcelona, while his legal team navigates the appeal process, according to the Sun.

While Alves’ release has been met with approval from his supporters, it has triggered outrage among critics, including the lawyer representing the victim, Ester Garcia. Garcia condemned the decision to release Alves as “scandalous,” labeling it as “justice for the rich.”
