Rio Ferdinand, who once shared the dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo during their time at Old Trafford, offered insights into the dynamics between the two footballing legends.
Ferdinand’s beef claims
In a recent podcast appearance, Ferdinand explored the perceptions of Ronaldo within the footballing community, with specific emphasis on the viewpoints of Thierry Henry and Brazilian icon Ronaldo Nazario.

Fight for the name: Ferdinand’s claim
Ferdinand believes there is tension between Ronaldo Nazario and Cristiano Ronaldo, suggesting that it stems from a perceived concern regarding the similarity in their names.
He said, as reported by the Mirror“There’s beef there somewhere you know. It’s cause of the name. I think because of the name, as if he says, ‘You took my name, so I have a problem with you.”
His co-host interjected, drawing attention to the potentially disrespectful nature of labeling Ronaldo Nazario as the “fat Ronaldo” following Cristiano’s rise to prominence.

Ferdinand opens up on Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo beef
Ferdinand delving into his alleged dispute between Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo mentioned,”It’s the same with Thierry [Henry]. Thierry is the same. The way I see Thierry talk about Cristiano, it’s more what he doesn’t say. He doesn’t talk about him with any zest or spark.”

Further narrating what he feels could have initiated the beef, Ferdinand said,”It’s like he’s downplaying Cristiano a lot. There was a clip at Highbury when Henry slaps him on the back of his head or something like that and Cristiano pushes him off.
“Cristiano then scored the winner and Henry’s taking the kick-off with the goalscorer in the background.”
Despite their previous conflicts, Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo developed a cordial relationship in 2022, as evidenced by a photograph capturing them embracing before kick-off.
