Roma Defender Evan Ndicka Collapses During Serie A Clash
Roma defender Evan Ndicka was stretchered off the field in the 74th minute of their Serie A clash against Udinese after collapsing off the ball. The match was subsequently abandoned.
The 24-year-old went down clutching his chest while Roma was in possession of the ball. Medical staff rushed onto the field to attend to Ndicka, who reportedly gave a thumbs up as he was carried away.
Roma Confirms Ndicka Conscious
Thankfully, the Rome based club later confirmed that Ndicka is conscious and has been taken to hospital for further checks.
The club released a statement saying, “Following an illness suffered on the pitch by Evan Ndicka, #UdineseRoma was suspended. The player is conscious and was transported to hospital for checks. Come on Evan, we’re all with you!”
Match Abandoned After Discussion
Following the incident, the game was halted as the referee discussed the situation with both teams. After some deliberation, the official blew his whistle and instructed the players to leave the field. The score was tied 1-1 at the time of the suspension.

Ndicka joined Roma in 2023 from Eintracht Frankfurt on a five-year deal. The French-born defender began his career at Auxerre and later represented France at every level up to the Under-21s. He has since switched allegiance to Ivory Coast, making 14 appearances for the national team, including playing every minute during their Africa Cup of Nations victory earlier this year.
