Harry Kane’s Confidence in Bayern’s Champions League prospects
Harry Kane is confident that Bayern Munich possesses both the experience and togetherness necessary to achieve greater success in the Champions League.
The 30-year-old England captain has enjoyed a remarkable debut season with the German giants, netting an impressive 39 goals across all competitions. Despite Bayern’s underwhelming performance in the Bundesliga, where Bayer Leverkusen secured the title, Kane believes their focus on the Champions League remains steadfast.
Kane emphasizes that Bayern has showcased their best performances in the Champions League, relying on the seasoned winners in their squad. Players like Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich, Manuel Neuer, and Leon Goretzka, all previous champions, are expected to feature prominently against Arsenal.
With the upcoming match at the Allianz Arena, anticipation runs high among Bayern fans, who anticipate their team’s triumph over Arsenal, fueled by the memories of past successes. Kane’s remarks underscore the heightened expectations and determination within the Bayern camp as they strive for further glory in European football’s most prestigious tournament.
“We have got a lot of experience and a lot of players who have played in big games, big moments. It is no secret here that the club set out to win the Champions League every season,” he said, as reported by The Mirror.
“It is a time to raise our game, time for me and the players who have been in big pressure situations to step up and be counted. It is going to be an amazing atmosphere, it is going to be a quarter-final Champions League night. There is a lot of expectation but I think there is a good belief in the squad that we can achieve something,” he added.
Determination to achieve success
Kane is determined to salvage his season and shed the label of never winning silverware, despite his individual achievements with club and country. He acknowledges the added pressure of being a £90m star signing but won’t deem the season a personal failure if they end trophyless.
Sports Buddy recently reported that Kingsley Coman’s remarkable streak has come to a halt, reportedly due to what some are dubbing the “Harry Kane curse.”
“It depends what you define by a failure. Of course every player, every club, wants to win trophies, that’s the ultimate goal every season. But there’s a process into winning, a process into the individual and the team.
“You want to improve as a player individually every year, you want to get better, you want to show the world your capabilities and you want to push yourself to the very limits.”
Harry Kane’s sentiments on facing Arsenal
Kane, an ex-Tothenham player, facing Arsenal, his former club who released him at nine, feels like a destined football fairytale. He asserts that proving doubters wrong has always been in his DNA and still enjoys playing against Arsenal.
“I think it was one of the biggest games of the season for pretty much my whole career, we played them at least twice a year for the last 10 years and it was always a big occasion, big moment. Maybe it was in the back of the mind, being released from a young age, and there’s always a point to prove – I’m the type of player who, throughout my career, has had points to prove along the way, I don’t think that ever leaves you, I think it’ll always be in my DNA until I retire,” he said.
