Mauricio Pochettino found himself embroiled in a dispute between Chelsea’s former stadium announcer and the club’s press officer following the Blues’ resounding 6-0 victory over Everton.
The post-match press conference was criticized for its handling, and labeled as ‘poor management’ by one party.
Tensions arise over penalty incident
Despite the convincing win on Monday night, tensions arose within the Chelsea camp over penalty-taking responsibilities.
Sports Buddy reported about the incident that before Chelsea’s fifth goal against Everton, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Nicolas Jackson were involved in a physical altercation.

Mauricio Pochettino’s discontent and Barnett’s remark
Pochettino appeared visibly angered by the unusual confrontation and expressed discontent when questioned about it during his post-match press conference.
A video shared on X captured the Chelsea manager expressing his dissatisfaction with the line of questioning as he exited the media room at Stamford Bridge.

”All day we talk about one thing,” Pochettino told reporters referring to the penalty incident.
Just as he was about to exit the room, the Argentine turned back towards the press pack to emphasize his point.
‘You all [asked] one [question] all press conference.”
At that point, Neil Barnett, Chelsea’s former pitchside announcer, voiced his disagreement with the club’s press officer, implying that additional questions might have been posed had the press conference continued.

”You stopped the press conference,” he replied.
Pochettino continued,”Every question was in this way [about the penalty incident].”
As the Chelsea manager and the press officer exited the room, Barnett, who has hosted The Football Show on US radio SiriusXM for 14 years, remarked, “S*** management of a press conference.”
