The Premier League has released a five-man nomination list for manager of the season.

Guardiola and Klopp dominate Manager of the season awards

Since the 2017-18 season, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool have exclusively shared the Manager of the Season accolade, with Guardiola winning four times and Klopp twice.

Guardiola clinched his fourth Manager of the Season award last term and is once again a contender this season as Manchester City pursues their fourth consecutive title. With 25 wins from 35 top-flight matches, City currently sits second in the table behind Arsenal but maintains control of their destiny.

Guardiola secured his fourth Manager of the Season award last season and remains a contender for the accolade this season.

The reigning champions are only one point behind Arsenal with a game in hand. Winning each of their remaining three games would make them the first team in Premier League history to secure four successive titles.

Guardiola and Klopp Among Nominees for Manager of the Season

Pep Guardiola’s previous Manager of the Season victories in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023 place him second in the list of most end-of-season awards among all Premier League head coaches, only behind Sir Alex Ferguson’s 11.

Klopp, Guardiola, and Arteta Lead the Nominees

Jurgen Klopp, departing from Liverpool, is also in contention for the 2023–24 award, aiming for his third accolade after winning in 2019-20 and 2021-22. Klopp has navigated an injury-plagued Liverpool side back to the Champions League and orchestrated a Premier League title push alongside Arsenal and Manchester City.

Emery and Iraola complete the Shortlist

Aston Villa’s Unai Emery, alongside Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, rounds up the nominees. Emery’s unexpected challenge for Champions League football with Aston Villa earns him a nomination, while Iraola’s impressive work at Bournemouth, leading them to their highest-ever Premier League points tally, secures his place on the list.
