Arsenal head into the final day of the Premier League season with a chance to win their first title in two decades. Their captain, Martin Odegaard, attributes a significant portion of their success to a mid-season training camp in Dubai.
Martin Odegaard: A Crucial Turning Point
The Gunners struggled in the first half of the season, but since their trip to Dubai, they’ve been in top form. Odegaard emphasizes the importance of this break: “This season obviously we have to speak about the Dubai trip again… We were struggling a bit before that and we needed that break… People brought their families and we came together and we got closer to each other.”
He continued: “We had some time away and time off and it helped, we came back stronger and more together as a group as well… we’re just so together we’re a family and we love fighting for each other, we love playing together and we love to push each other every day. That pays off in the end.”
Mirror Football also reported in March that manager Mikel Arteta invited players’ families on the trip to foster team spirit and introduce new strategies during a period of inconsistent play.
The Results Speak for Themselves
The impact of the Dubai trip has been undeniable. Since returning, Arsenal has won 15 of their last 17 league games, dropping points against only two teams (Aston Villa and Manchester City). But despite their impressive run, Arsenal’s title hopes depend on Manchester City’s performance against West Ham on the final day.
Regardless of the final outcome, Odegaard is confident that Arsenal is on the right track and destined for future success: “As you say, and as I said, we’ve had a good season, but I know that if we don’t win that league, no one’s going to be happy in this building and we’re going to come back even stronger and push again to do it.” He also added: “I’m sure that this team will end up with some great trophies in a short time. Hopefully, now. And if not then we’re going to come back and push even harder to be better.”
