In this article, Sports Buddy takes a look at the latest list of the most valuable footballers in the world revealed by CIES.
The newly released list was dominated by England national team players, with Real Madrid ace Jude Bellingham topping the list, valued at £237 million.
Bellingham will face intense scrutiny when he takes the field at Wembley on Saturday for the Champions League Final.
The 20-year-old midfielder is sure to be the centre of attention for English supporters in the much anticipated UCL final against his former club Borussia Dortmund.
After an incredible first season at the Bernabeu, the Real Madrid star has seen his worth soar—nearly tripled in only a year after his £88 million summer transfer from Dortmund, Wembley’s opponents, according to the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory.
CIES takes into account factors like “age, length of contract, minutes and starting minutes, competition level, results, the economic strength of the player’s club and league, potential buyers and inflation” to arrive at the open market valuation.
More than 5,500 paid transfer deals have been examined by statisticians to help them create the most recent ranking of the world’s most valuable footballers.
Bellingham is joined in the top six by two more of his Three Lions teammates, providing England manager Gareth Southgate with a boost ahead of Euro 2024.
According to CIES experts, Phil Foden’s current net worth is £174 million, while Bukayo Saka’s is £166 million, as reported by The Sun.
