Leicester City executives are said to be disappointed with Enzo Maresca for leaving them for Chelsea after one season managing the team.
Maresca was officially introduced as the new Stamford Bridge boss on Monday but the Foxes are said to be heartbroken as he dumps them despite guiding them to Championship promotion in his maiden senior role in English football.
The Italian’s exit is shocking to many at the Foxes as he had complained about some off-field issues during the last season which were reportedly resolved when they secured promotion.
The Foxes will now start looking for a new manager in charge pretty soon but according to Mail Sport, senior executives at the King Power Stadium feel a “little bit miffed” about the way Maresca has gone ahead and rejected them for Chelsea.
Some insiders at the Premier League outfit even think that the Italian “made a play” for the Chelsea job. The 44-year-old had a whopping £10 million compensation clause inserted in the three-year contract he penned down at Leicester a year ago.
The club’s official statement clearly shows their unhappiness: “For a man who has built such promising foundations in his one season at the helm, the Club is sad that Enzo has, at this time, decided he no longer wishes to be part of our ambition.”

Leicester In For Tough Times Ahead As They Look For A New Manager
The Foxes return to the English top-flight will be engulfed with a number of troubles as the club is likely to be relegated for breaching the spending regulations. The managerial post will thus have another twist for Maresca’s replacement.
Carlos Corberan is among the options Leicester adore as the West Brom boss guided the Baggies to the Championship playoffs last term despite huge wage uncertainties.
The Foxes official statement added: “With Enzo’s decision now made and the Board’s conditions for his departure fulfilled, we hope he achieves all his future ambitions. He leaves with the gratitude of everyone at the Club for his contribution in securing an immediate return to the Premier League for the 2023/24 season.”
Staff members Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Javier Molina Caballero, and Roberto Vitiello have also left the club alongside Maresca.
As Leicester now starts the process of hiring a new manager, the board is keen on bringing on board a man who will execute their vision for the club. “The Board will now commence the process of appointing a new manager that will lead our return to the Premier League and continue the implementation of our long-term vision for the success of Leicester City Football Club” the statement concluded.
