Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has reached the pinnacle of influence in African women’s football.

The current African women’s football player of the year has now been formally crowned the “queen of Instagram.”

Oshoala emerges as the most followed African female athlete

Like Mohammed Salah, who holds the record for the most-followed African male athlete, Asisat Oshoala has now emerged as the ‘Instagram queen of female athletes in African sports.’

“Agba baller”, as she is fondly called, overtook tennis women’s star Ons Jabeur to become the most followed African female athlete on Instagram.

According to previous reports, the former Barcelona striker had equaled Jabeur, who had been in first place with 1.3 million followers. Oshoala’s following, however, gained massive growth, increasing by a whopping 100,000 extra followers between February and June to displace the Tunisian tennis star as number one.

Oshoala, who saw her following grow from 887,000 to reach and surpass the 1 million followers milestone for the first time ever last year, is now the most-followed African female athlete, with 1.4 million followers.
