Barcelona defender Jules Kounde discusses the possibility of facing his countryman Kylian Mbappe in the next El Clasico and hinted at how the Blaugrana will line up to defend against him.
Last season, Real Madrid won La Liga, unseating Barcelona, who were the reigning champions.
With the addition of Mbappe, to an already dangerous Real Madrid attack, many believe the Galacticos would be an even more difficult side to defend against next season; however, Kounde seems unfazed.
Kounde on stopping Kylian Mbappe
Speaking in an interview, the French defender spoke about his countryman’s arrival in Madrid, revealing the best way to defend against the blazing 26-year-old forward.
“That’s why I play football—for the big games—to face the best. And in that sense, Kylian is the ‘Crème de la Crème’,” Kounde said, as per Sport.
“So he is very satisfying. But a player like Kylian Mbappé cannot be stopped alone, he also requires a collective effort, although since he was in my zone, I participated a lot in the team’s success.
“Performing against players like that encourages you to keep going, to keep looking for more, and convinces you that if you work hard, sooner or later you will get it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kounde dismissed rumors of his departure this summer and discussed his significance to Barcelona
