Kylian Mbappe Speaks Out on Difficult Final Season at PSG
Kylian Mbappe has revealed that Paris St-Germain manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos “saved” him from being frozen out by the club during his final season before joining Real Madrid. The French forward had a tumultuous last season at PSG, with the club’s hierarchy reportedly telling him he would be barred from the team if he didn’t sign a new contract.
“I thought I wouldn’t play,” Mbappe said in an interview according to report for 101greatgoal.com. “From the moment I stepped on the pitch, I think it’s been a successful season. I’m more proud of that season when I know everything I had to go through to play.”
Kylian Mbappe credited Enrique and Campos with allowing him to continue playing despite the tensions between him and the club. “Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. Without them, I would never have set foot on the field again. That’s why my ambition that year was different… just playing, repeating matches and winning trophies was my greatest pride.”

Focus on Euro 2024
Kylian Mbappe has now turned his attention to helping France at Uefa Euro 2024. “It’s something I’ve always wanted so I’m very happy,” he said of his free transfer to Real Madrid. “It’s an immense pleasure, a dream come true. I am extremely proud to be able to arrive at this club where I have always dreamed of being.”
The forward emphasized his commitment to the French national team, saying, “I arrive with a lot of humility. There is a lot of emotion but I have a responsibility as captain of the French team. I will not answer questions other than about selection. I prefer to protect my national team because we have a great summer ahead of us.”
France begins their Euro 2024 campaign against Austria on June 17, followed by matches against the Netherlands and Poland. Kylian Mbappe is determined to help Les Bleus go as far as possible in the tournament. “My goal is to help the French team go as far as possible,” he said.
