Thomas Tuchel Declines Manchester United Job
Thomas Tuchel has informed Manchester United that he is not interested in taking over the managerial position and plans to take a break from football according to reports from Sun.
The former Chelsea manager recently held two meetings with United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. as reported by Sports Buddy. Despite United’s keen interest in Tuchel as Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford appears uncertain, the German coach has expressed his need for time away from management after his departure from Bayern Munich in the summer. This decision removes him from consideration if ten Hag is relieved of his duties by the new minority owners.
Thomas Tuchel did discuss how he would address the challenges United has faced recently, including his approach to getting the best out of Jadon Sancho. Ten Hag, who led United to an unexpected FA Cup final victory over rivals City, has yet to learn his fate as Ineos continues its review of the season. United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, finishing eighth in the league, has added pressure on the decision regarding ten Hag’s future.
Potential Replacements for Ten Hag
The uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag’s position has prompted speculation about potential replacements. England manager Gareth Southgate is one option, though he is currently focused on the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 campaign. Another strong candidate is Graham Potter, the former manager of Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion, who has been out of work since his dismissal last season. Ratcliffe is reportedly a “big fan” of Potter and had previously attempted to hire him for Nice.
