Former Arsenal and Everton star Kevin Campbell has passed away at age of 54. The forward who began his illustrious career with Gunners, became ill in late May. Everton revealed in early June that he was “very unwell.”
Arsenal confirmed the devastating news on X formerly known as Twitter. “We are devastated to learn that our former striker Kevin Campbell has died after short illness. Kevin was adored by everyone at club. All of us are thinking of his friends and family at this difficult time. Rest in peace Kevin.”
Kelvin Campbell: Celebrating a Storied Career
Kelvin emerged from Arsenal’s Hale End academy making his first-team debut in 1988. After loan stints with Leyton Orient and Leicester City, he played pivotal role in Arsenal’s 1990–91 league title triumph.
He also contributed significantly to club’s FA Cup and League Cup double in 1993. Their European Cup Winners’ Cup victory in 1994.
Following successful spells with Nottingham Forest and Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, he joined Everton on loan in March 1999.
His nine goals in the final eight Premier League games helped the Toffees avoid relegation. This impressive performance led to permanent move to Everton. Where he spent more than five seasons.
Campbell concluded his career with stints at West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City. Scoring 148 goals in 542 career appearances. After retiring he worked as media pundit, sharing his football insights with fans around world.

“Life can be so cruel at times. Absolutely devastated with news. Of my ex-Forest teammate Kevin Campbell’s passing. A true gentleman. A great player. A shining light of dressing room. Fun-loving guy. Thoughts are with all his family and friends. RIP mate.”
Ian Wright, Kelvin’s former Arsenal teammate shared his grief. With several cry-face emojis and a collection of photos featuring the two of them.
Kevin’s passing has left significant void in football world. His contributions on field and his presence off it. Will be fondly remembered by fans, teammates and colleagues alike.
