According to reports, former Nigerian international and ex-Juventus midfielder Sunday Oliseh has stated his desire to return as coach of the Super Eagles in order to assist them in making it to the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup has become slimer following a shocking 2-1 loss against Benin Republic and a 1-1 draw against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana. The Super Eagles have only managed three of a possible twelve points, placing them fifth in the standings for now.
Following the poor performances and some in-house squabbles with the NFF, Finidi George, who took over from Jose Peseiro resigned after just one month in charge, as reported by Sports Buddy.
Oliseh on desire to help Super Eagles

With the position currently vacant, Oliseh, has stated he is prepared to support his help his country qualify for the 2026 Quatar World Cup.
“I have one country. Forget that I have German pali. Nothing brings me more joy than my people. If my country wants to speak with me, I will answer, Oliseh said, in an interview with Elegbete TV.
”I can also provide technical assistance because we need to qualify for the World Cup,” he added.
Oliseh’s comments come after eight years since his resignation as Super Eagles coach over alleged unpaid wages and contract infractions.
