Messi scored in the 51st minute to take his international total in men’s football to 109 goals, one more than Iranian Ali Daei,. This puts Messi second after his biggest competitor Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored 130 international goals in men’s football.

It is almost impossible for Messi to equal or surpass Ronaldo’s tally given his age and the few international games he has left.
