Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is pursuing Hervé Renard, the former coach of Ivory Coast, as Sportsbuddy.ng reports.
The French coach has been offered €2 million per year salary by the Nigerian football association and its Egyptian football bodies according to a journalist from FootMercato.
Coaching Vacancy and Past Links
The coaching position of the Super Eagles has been empty since Finidi George resigned from it after having the position for less than two months.
Contrary to previous statements, the NFF is already negotiating with Renard with an eye on a 2026 World Cup ticket.

Renard has previously coached Zambia and Saudi Arabia, and his association with the NFF stirred worries from the Nigerian football fans on his appointment due to financial issues.
Conflicting Reports
Earlier, BBS Sports journalist Okeleji dismissed the rumors, citing a top NFF official as saying, “We’ve not contacted Renard or his reps. ” This was in Okeleji’s X account.
But the latest information points to the fact that the NFF has started getting in touch with Renard thus moving from home-based to a possibly a foreign-based coach even with limited resources.
Such changes have come to focus at the NFF to improve the chances of the super eagles in future international tournaments.
