Kepa Arrizabalaga is out of first-team training with Chelsea, meaning he is likely to leave the club in the near future Sportsbuddy.ng reports.
The goalkeeper who had a season-long loan at Real Madrid was expected to be signed permanently but is back at Cobham for the pre-season.
Chelsea’s Transfer Plans
The Daily Mail has reported that Kepa is training with other first-team players under the new manager Enzo Maresca, which could mean that the club wants to sell him in this transfer window.
Kepa is eyeing to move to Saudi Pro League before his contract expires especially to Al-Ittihad club where his former teammate N’Golo Kante is at the moment.
Kepa’s Chelsea Journey
He is still the most costly goalie ever after his £71 million switch from Athletic Bilbao in summer of 2018.
He participated in the Europa league in his first season but was often inconsistent and this led to the signing of Edouard Mendy.
Nevertheless, after the arrival of Robert Sanchez and Dorde Petrovic during the 2022/23 season, Kepa’s position was once again up in the air.
Kepa signed for Real Madrid on loan after Thibaut Courtois got injured but failed to displace Lunin as the club’s number one goalkeeper.
He still finished the season with a La Liga and Champions League winners’ medal. Kepa also achieved the UCL title, UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup in 2021 while playing at Chelsea and got to three FA Cup and two League Cup finals.
Chelsea’s Transfer Activity
This summer, Chelsea have witnessed more inflows than outflows, and they completed the signing of Renato Veiga as the fifth Maresca on Friday.
