The teenager broke Johan Vonlanthen’s record (18 years, 141 days) by scoring his first goal at the European Championship against France in the semi-final, after Randal Kolo Muani’s header had put Les Bleus in front. This made him the competition’s youngest goalscorer (16 years, 362 days).
Dani Olmo scored four minutes later, turning the game around to send Spain to the final, where they will now face England in Munich.
The young sensation from Spain, who turns 17 the day before the final, had already set up three goals prior to his amazing performance against Didier Deschamps’ team.

He also disclosed that he had a talk with his mother before the celebration.
“I’ve told my mother that if we win I don’t want anything as a gift,” Yamal told Marca.
“I just want to celebrate it in Madrid with my classmates. And that’s it.”
The 17-year-old expressed his desire to compete in Euro 2024 against England, with Spain hoping to win a European championship for the first time since 2012.
“Winning a European Championship is something crazy that hasn’t been done since 2012,” he continued. “Winning it would fill us with euphoria.”
