OFFICIAL: New NPFL Prize Money Announced

Significant improvements in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) reveals that there has been an enhancement in the amounts offered in terms of a prize money.

The league ended few weeks back with Enugu Rangers as the champions with 70 points. For their effort, they were given N150 million.

Increased Prize Money

Speaking at the NPFL Annual General Assembly on Tuesday in Abuja, the NPFL Chairman Hon.

Gbenga Elegbeleye disclosed that the winner of the next season’s league would be rewarded with N200m up from the currently awarded N150m.

It will also be hoped that this development will spur teams to increase their performance and intensify the battle for the coveted award.

If there are no changes, then the new season is expected to commence on Saturday 31st August 2024.

This will be a greater challenge for teams in the next season due to this increased prize money offered.

Furthermore, SportsBuddy gave details on earnings of ball boys in the league accoriding to an interview from a young ball boy.

Ballboys are groups that contributes to game to game experiences. One such ball boy is Kamaldeen, who joined the crew at the Kwara State Sports Stadium in 2023.

His words offer a glimpse into the world of these young pitchside helpers: “We get paid N300 per match.

All these changes demonstrate the seriousness of NPFL in enhancing the league standard and making better conditions in the NPFL for teams and players.
