Several big names have been left out of the Chelsea team for the US pre-season tour, with uncertainty over the future of six players in particular.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has selected a 28-man squad that will go to the US, where they will play their first match on Wednesday against Wrexham in California.
The Blues will play Celtic, Club America, and Premier League rivals Manchester City before finishing the tour on August 7 in Charlotte, North Carolina, against Real Madrid.
With the exception of Djordje Petrovic, who is injured, and the five players whose international holidays were extended, at least 43 other players have been left off the roster for various reasons.
The six players who could leave Chelsea
However, the exclusions of Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Trevoh Chalobah, Cesare Casadei, David Datro Fofana, and also Malang Sarr, who is most likely to join Ligue 1 side Lens, as recently reported by Sports Buddy, will continue to strengthen rumors of their permanent departure from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea might lose £120 million on Lukaku, Arrizabalaga, Fofana, and Casadei, who are currently worth a combined £70 million, according to Transfermarkt,
Lukaku, who was purchased for £97.5 million in 2021, has been on loan at AS Roma and Inter Milan. Napoli could be able to get him back to Serie A.
According to Daily Mail, Arrizabalaga, who was acquired for a record fee of £71 million in 2018, is poised to depart the club after being loaned to Real Madrid last season and purchased by Chelsea, with Chelsea interested in Filip Jorgensen of Villarreal.
Academy product Chalobah could also leave because right-sided center-backs Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, and Tosin Adarabioyo are preferred.
