Chelsea have released £100,000-a-week star and Club World Cup winner Malang Sarr as the club continues to revamp the squad ahead of the 2024–2025 season.
In four years, the defender appeared in just eight Premier League games for the team.
According to reports from The Sun, Sarr, 25, is now expected to ink a contract with Ligue 1 team Lens.
In the summer of 2020, the Frenchman moved on a free transfer from Porto to Chelsea for a £100,000-a-week wage for five years.
Chelsea terminate Sarr’s contract prematurely
That means Chelsea have terminated his contract prematurely, with Sarr racking up £20.8 million from his spell at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea center-back made 21 appearances in all competitions, including two as a substitute, helping the Blues win the Club World Cup.
However, he only appeared in eight league games and was loaned to Monaco for the 2022–2023 season.
The agreement contained a purchase option, which Monaco chose not to exercise. However, Sarr is now expected to make a transfer to Ligue Un, with Lens in pole position to secure his signature.
Meanwhile, Sports Buddy reported in other news that the Blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez was embroiled in another racist scandal after following his recent controversial video incident.
