Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has suggested that he could extend his stay at the Ethiad Stadium beyond his current deal which expires at the end of next season.
When City clinched their fourth consecutive Premier League title in May, it looked like Guardiola could be on his way out of the club.
Nonetheless, during the club’s pre-season tour in New York, he hinted that he could add another year to his tenure, making it 10 years.
Reflecting on His Future
Pep Guardiola said he loves the club and at the same time pointed at the fact that it is crucial to make the right decisions for everyone.
“Nine years today in the same club is an eternity. So I want to be sure it’s the right decision. Not just for me, for the club, for the players,” he said.
Acknowledging Longevity and Success
Guardiola appreciated his team effort and achievement. “Still they run like they ran for eight years, it doesn’t matter the competition, it doesn’t matter the tournament and this is what I have to see,” he said.
While he ruled out staying for another eight years, he admitted the importance of change in football players and managers.
Nevertheless, Guardiola has not lost sight of the current and prospective successes of the City. ‘At the same time we have had success and are still winning Premier Leagues, arriving in the last stages, and we are playing competitions like the Champions League. ’
This is my feeling right now. Manchester City fans will be waiting for changes as Guardiola weighs his options for the next season at the Etihad stadium.
