Former Chelsea women team coach Emma Hayes delivered the Olympic Gold with the USA women’s football team, describing it as the pinnacle of her career despite winning seven league titles with Chelsea women.
The former Chelsea coach was replaced by Sonia Bompastor for the London club as reported by Sportsbuddy.
Nearly a year after their worst ever World Cup exit, Hayes led the USA to a 1-0 win over Brazil in the final in a match dedicated to her late father Sid who believed her fate was to play for America.
‘Chelsea is my local club but personally speaking this is much more than that,’ Hayes said. ”
Speaking to The Mirror the Gold medalist said “I joined at the right time, and these last two months have been incredible. I won’t let this job get the best of me.”
Bold Choices and Tactical Brilliance

It was expected that Hayes would make the move to the USA because the position remains the most prestigious in women’s football.
Her tenure with the Long Island Lady Riders and the Chicago Red Stars were formative for her.
The pressures of training elite clubs affected her family, and her son Harry agreed with the decision.

Hayes then proceeded to reconstruct the team, and one of the most daring moves was the release of Alex Morgan.
Her attacking trident of Mallory Swanson, Trinity Rodman, and Sophia Smith known as the ‘Triple Espresso,’ was the game-changer, ensuring the win for the USA.
A Promising Future

The former Chelsea boss did a complete overhaul of the squad in less than two weeks.
The USA, inspired by her tactics, scored 11 goals in six matches. With an average age of 24, Swanson, Rodman, and Smith are set to lead the next World Cup campaign.
‘Emma has brought faith in us,’ added captain Lindsey Horan.
The audience could sense that she trusted us and had so much more to offer.
Hayes is the sixth British coach to see his team win an Olympic gold and ensure the USA’s dominance in women’s football in the future.
