Fulham manager Marco Silva has explained why his team lost to Manchester United on their visit to Old Trafford in their league opener, pointing to a decisive moment in the match involving Alex Iwobi.
The visitors had a couple of opportunities to score but failed to take their chances, but were eventually punished for their wastefulness after substitute Joshua Zirkzee, scored in the 88th minute to hand United a much-needed three points.
Silva highlights two-on-one situation involving Alex Iwobi
Following the loss, Silva acknowledged his team’s wastefulness in his post-match presser, referencing instances where they failed to capitalise on their chances, including a two-on-one situation where Andreas Perreira failed to deliver an accurate pass to Alex Iwobi.
“We started well and had good counter-attacks to score. We adjusted things at half-time and the second half was much better, Silva said, per BBC.

“We had good moments, two against one, we should have done better.
“The main thing for us was to keep the emotional control. When the game becomes open we should have kept the balance and kept compact. But in those moments we lost emotional control and that allowed them to score.
“The game was open and broken, we tried to rush our decisions. Many times we started to lose the ball too quickly. We let the game go too emotional and we didn’t want that,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sports Buddy reported in other news that Iwobi, who recently released a song titled ‘Don’t shoot’, featuring fellow players Chuba Akpom and Medy Elito, has come out to explain how it came about.
