Lisandro Martinez took to his official Twitter account to share a playful message about his clash with the Fulham forward Adama Traore when Manchester United secured a 1-0 Premier League victory at Old Trafford on Friday night.

The victory was established by the match winner, Joshua Zirkzee, while a battle between Martinez and Traore was a highlight of the first half.

The Battle on the Wing

As early as the first parts of the confrontations, Traore demonstrated excellent speed to catch Martinez off-guard and apply pressure on the Argentine.

Martinez, however, had to rise to the occasion and take it up in their second confrontation, thus making the next move by winning the ball back and causing Traore to tumble on the ground.

When asked by Sky Sports about the incident, Martinez jokingly replied, “I sent him to the gym!” Martinez also stated that Traore had an upper hand in the first situation, but he turned the tables and killed him back.

Lisandro Martinez’s Versatility and United’s Performance

Martinez, who featured as both a center back and left back throughout the game, stressed the need to be versatile.

“It was rare that I endured games where I was positioned as a left full-back, but as a player, one must always strive for the team’s benefit,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a recent report from Sportsbuddy, Martinez dropped a retirement hint concerning Argentine teammate Lionel Messi.

As not very credible as it may seem, United created enough opportunities to snatch the win and start their season with a vital three points.

Martinez agreed with the assessment but said that he would be pleased to play for the club and embrace the responsibility that accompanies it.
