Reflecting on the Honor of Representing Nigeria

Boniface showed great pride in being selected to play for Nigeria, arguing that it is a privilege for anyone to represent a country of over 200 million people.

“Watching others play for Nigeria when I was a kid, it was always my dream to be part of the national team. I was really happy to be part of it,” he said to the official Bundesliga’s website.

Recently, the Super Eagles striker has reacted to a one-match ban and a €25,000 fine he got for his unsportsmanlike behavior during Bayer Leverkusen’s previous Super Cup game against VfB Stuttgart.

When asked about being compared to top strikers like Harry Kane and Serhou Guirassy, Boniface humbly stated, “I can’t say I’m on the same level as them.”

“They are top, top players. I’ve learned a lot from watching them, but my focus is on improving myself, helping my team, and enjoying the game. I don’t see it as a competition; I just want to win games and contribute to my team’s success.”

Boniface is expected to play for Leverkusen’s next game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on August 23.
