Faustino Adebola Rasheed Anjorin, an English-born Nigerian midfielder, is also set to bid goodbye to Chelsea since he is set for a transfer to Empoli of Italy.

Empoli’s Summer Reinforcements

The Cobham Academy product, potentially, has been informed over the weekend that he will complete the transfer to Empoli shortly, with the length of the contract as of yet unknown, as reported by Nizaar Kinsella.

Empoli, who finished one point above the drop zone, have been actively strengthening their squad during the current transfer window.

Chelsea transfer news

Anjorin is expected to be the seventh arrival of the transfer window, with the club’s management making six other signings with the aim of strengthening the team.

Anjorin’s Chelsea Journey

Anjorin, now 22, has been unable to nail a starting position for Chelsea since he made his debut in the Carabao Cup game against Grimsby Town in September 2019.

In his tenure at the club, he has only made four appearances in the senior team of the Blues and has been on loan in some seasons at teams like Lokomotiv Moscow, Huddersfield Town, and Portsmouth.

New Beginnings in Italy

During Anjorin’s time at Portsmouth last season, he featured in 14 games across all competitions, in which he scored two goals.

Even though an exciting new dawn had arisen on the horizon in the form of new Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca, the ‘former England youth international’ doesn’t look needed for the project and has moved on in search of another project at Empoli.

As things stand, there is a possibility that Anjorin may soon complete his transfer, as a formal statement on the development is expected to be released soon, subject to the player passing a medical test.

The transfer signifies the end of Anjorin’s time with the Stamford Bridge outfit after the midfielder spent 16 years in Chelsea’s development system but failed to establish himself in the senior squad.
