Kieran Trippier is another player to retire from international football for England after a distinguished career.
The Newcastle right-back made the decision after a disappointing performance for England’s at the just concluded Euro 2024 tournament, which saw the country reach the final before being beaten by Spain.

The former international defender, who won 54 caps for his country, expressed pride at his tournament record with his achievements during four major championships.

In the Instagram post, Trippier was happy to represent England, and he also thanked Gareth Southgate together with the coaching staff for their support.
He had a couple goals, and one of the most memorable ones he mentioned was the free kick he scored in the 2018 World Cup semi-final against Croatia.
Southgate had previously praised Trippier as a “warrior” for his contributions during his tenure.

The left-back position is the most worrisome, given that the current incumbent, Luke Shaw, is injured, and Ben Chilwell is unavailable due to being cut from Chelsea’s team.
Trippier had been playing as a left-back in the Euro 2024, starting the team in the first six matches before Shaw was available. It is up to Carsley, therefore, to find a solution to this void in the upcoming squad.
