Manchester City striker Erling Haaland scoffed at the notion of Arsenal experiencing an early title misstep in the Premier League title race following the match with Brighton.
The Gunners looked destined for their third successive victory after taking the lead through Kai Havertz in the first half at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the contentious sending off of Declan Rice, as reported by Sportsbuddy immediately after the first half, changed the course of the game, and Brighton sought to equalise through Joao Pedro.
Haaland Stays Focused Amid City’s Strong Start
Despite the pressure on Manchester City’s title challengers to avoid dropping points, Haaland downplayed the significance of Arsenal’s draw and shrugged off Arsenal’s result.
Following his second consecutive hat-trick in City’s 3-1 win against West Ham, Erling Haaland dismissed any notion of Arsenal making a “slip-up.”
In a recent interview on Sky Sports, the Norwegian footballer was quoted saying, “They have not blown it yet.” I would like to emphasise not to use these words while translating the interview.
The former Dortmund striker, who has chipped in with seven goals this season so far, was delighted with City’s start, insisting that considering the teams may well feature in 70 games or so this season, they have to take it ‘game by game’.
Guardiola Praises Erling Haaland’s ‘Unbelievable’ Performance
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola particularly lauded Haaland’s goalscoring prowess while commenting about the West Ham match as “unbelievable.”.
Guardiola was impressed with the quality of the second and third goals scored by Haaland.
He said that Haaland’s mental approach and awareness are unrivalled, and with three games and nine points, City shows no signs of slowing down.
‘From the beginning, he was unbelievable,’ the Manchester City boss said. ‘The second goal, even the first. The third goal is something unique.
Speaking about the match in general, Guardiola admitted that West Ham is a solid team, but he was happy with how City owned the game, especially in the second half of the match.
He pointed out that with more regular games starting up, the “official” pre-season is done for the players on his team.
