Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has possibly conveyed his frustration with the club’s issues during the summer transfer season.
The Spanish manager suggested the problems PSG faced when looking for a top striker and indirectly referred to the president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, high demands.
Luis Enrique Laments Missed Opportunities In The Transfer Market
Enrique, speaking during the recent press conference, tried to explain the PSG’s problems. Here is what he said: “We wanted to sign some players, but the price was too high; it did not make sense; there was no real opportunity. If the opportunity window was opened and we could sign a player who scores 50 goals in the season, we would do that, but that was not the case.”
While Enrique did not mention any specific players, it is widely speculated that Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen was among PSG’s top targets, as reported previously by Sportsbuddy, especially following Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid.
High Valuation Blocks Osimhen Deal
Osimhen, who scored 31 goals in his prior season, was said to be PSG’s main focus alongside Chelsea F.C.
However, the clubs could not afford Napoli’s high price yielded by de Laurentiis, believed to have inflated the price to force the clubs to merge.
This was finally a hindrance to any deal, thus PSG was left without the prolific striker they had sought to lure.
