Napoli has taken a bold decision to leave out their key striker, Victor Osimhen, from the club’s squad for the next season, 2024/25.

The Nigerian forward, who has claimed he wants to move out of the club, will likely miss the first half of the season because he couldn’t agree on the transfer.

Romelu Lukaku Steps In

With Osimhen out of the picture, Romelu Lukaku, Napoli’s recent acquisition, has stepped into the spotlight.

The former Inter and Roma striker succeeded to make the difference in Napoli’s first match in the Italian Serie A this season, delivering a brilliant performance and providing the decisive contribution for Napoli to come from behind and snatch a dramatic 2-1 victory against Parma.

Earlier, Sportsbuddy reported that Asisat Oshoala has revealed the real truth behind Osimhen’s failed move to Chelsea.

According to Cult of Calcio, Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conte, affirmed that Osimhen would not be allowed to play for the first team again.

He also apologised for the current scenario by saying, “We might have built the team differently and sooner if the Osimhen situation had been resolved. I feel for Osimhen, the club, and myself because we couldn’t complete the squad as intended. But I commend the club for their consistency in this matter.”

Victor Osimhen, who informed Napoli of his intent to leave at the end of last season, now faces an uncertain future.

However, no acceptable bids came during that period, and the situation was becoming rather uncomfortable for both the player and Napoli.

Osimhen could be spending the next few months on the sidelines, away from the action on the pitch.
