Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has addressed speculations surrounding Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo’s potential inclusion in the Super Eagles squad ahead of the two-legged AFCON qualifier tie against Libya in October.

This comes after reports claimed that the 27-year-old centre back is set to commit his international career to Nigeria, which has led to suggestions that the Chelsea star could make the Super Eagles squad for the next games.

However, Super Eagles head coach Eguavoen has now come out to clear the air, stating he has yet to contact the Chelsea defender.

“I didn’t speak with Tosin, but he’s a good player,” Eguavoen told Premium Times.

The 59-year-old gaffer , however, assured that he and his team are keeping tabs on the former Fulham man’s performances, implying that a call-up in the future could be possible

“He’s one of the players we’re monitoring. Every Nigerian playing worldwide has the right to play for Nigeria, including Tosin,” he added.

Adarabioyo, who joined Chelsea during the summer transfer window, has been rock-solid for the Blues in defense in recent games, including helping them to a clean sheet in last weekend’s 3-0 victory against West Ham, where he played the entire 90 minutes.

While Eguavoen claims to be monitoring the Chelsea man’s performances, it is unlikely he is included in the squad for the doubleheader against Libya.
