The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has addressed Tosin Adarabioyo’s alleged commitment to joining the Super Eagles, stating the Chelsea defender is aware of the steps to take to see this happen.
Despite speculations suggesting Tosin could be included in the Super Eagles squad for their AFCON qualifiers doubleheader against Libya this October, interim coach Augustine Eguavoen came out to clarify the situation that he has not contacted the defender.
The Nigerian team that will play Libya in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers was finally revealed by Eguavoen, and the Chelsea man was unsurprisingly not included.

However, his exclusion from the team has generated discussion considering his abilities and the relatively advanced older age of Nigerian center backs.
NFF on Tosin Adarabioyo’s situation

The NFF has now addressed the situation, providing updates on the 27-year-old defender’s chances of representing Nigeria.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation, Tosin Adarabioyo said he wasn’t ready to play for Nigeria at the time of their previous negotiations.
The NFF further states that Adarabioyo is aware of the steps he must take to change his international allegiance to Nigeria.
“Jose Peseiro travelled to meet with him in the UK last year to speak to him about playing for Nigeria, but he told the coach at that time that he was not ready,” an NFF source said via ESPN.
“If he wants to make the switch now he knows what to do.”
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will look to continue their impressive run when they take on Libya, having recorded a win and a draw against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
