Sporting Lisbon’s top forward Viktor Gyokeres has responded to speculation that he is set to move on following manager Ruben Amorim’s exit, revealing it is ‘a topic that people like to talk about.’
Gyokeres, who recently admitted to his high clause as a reason for his failed move to England earlier, said after scoring four goals in Sporting’s 5-1 victory over Estrela Amadora: ‘Going with Amorim to Manchester United?’ I don’t know; I’m here. I really like being here… I’m enjoying it here. I’m sad about him leaving. We wish him all the best.” he concluded as quoted by Mirror.
The Release Clause and Transfer Prospects
Sporting has one of its most valuable assets in Viktor Gyokeres, who has a release clause of £85 million.
Despite interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, Sporting are expected to honour an agreement that allows him to leave next summer if suitors are prepared to pay a fair price.
Interest from top European clubs has only been fuelled by his recent performances, with 20 goals in 16 games across competitions.

Ruben Amorim’s Move to United
Ruben Amorim explained how he came to the decision of taking the Manchester United offer, stating that he had wanted to end the season with Sporting.
He acknowledged that Sporting wanted an immediate transfer and Amorim was given little time to decide on the chance he opted to go for, saying: ‘United came along, paid the clause above the clause, and the chairman defended his interests.’
