Reason why Gift Orban’s Lyon was relegated?

The ruling is the result of Lyon’s growing indebtedness and noncompliance with financial fair play (FFP) standards, which have caused the team to violate league financial health criteria. Officials from the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) concluded after a careful analysis that Lyon’s existing financial model is unsustainable.
A transfer ban is one of the penalties, which prohibits the team from signing new players in future transfer windows, delaying any squad expansions till later.
An LFP representative clarified, as quoted by The Zimbabwe Mail, saying,
“This decision aims to uphold the integrity of the league and ensure financial stability across all clubs. Lyon’s financial challenges pose significant risks, and immediate action is necessary.”
John Textor, the club’s president, said he was disappointed by the decision but promised to appeal it, saying,
“We strongly disagree with the decision and are already working on an appeal. Lyon is committed to resolving these financial issues and ensuring the club remains competitive at the highest level.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian striker Gift Orban, has fallen out of favour with the club manager.
