Former Super Eagles winger Tijani Babangida has opened up about the trauma he has endured since being involved in a ghastly motor accident with his family about six months ago.
Sports Buddy previously reported on the tragic incident near Zaria, which claimed the life of the former Ajax star’s brother, Ibrahim, a member of the 1993 U-17 World Cup-winning team.

Babangida speaks on accident ordeal

While Tijani survived the accident, suffering a knee injury, his wife Maryam also escaped but lost her memory. Tragically, they lost their young son, Fadeel.
“I’ll have to live with the trauma for the rest of my life. It’s hard to move on when you suddenly lose your entire family,” Babangida said in an emotional video nterview shared by his former club, Ajax, on X.

The 51-year-old, who later moved to the Netherlands for proper treatment, along with his wife Maryam, who is also undergoing rehabilitation thanks to the support of his former teams Ajax and Roda FC, described the incident as a nightmare.
He disclosed that he kept the news of their son’s passing from his wife for three months.
“After three months in the Netherlands, I was finally able to tell her that our child was in the car,” he further revealed.
During this extremely trying time, his former teammates have come together to support him. Babangida expressed his sincere appreciation to the Dutch football community for their support and care for him and his family.
