Former French international Adil Rami has strongly criticized Cristiano Ronaldo for his recent remarks about the quality of Ligue 1.
The comments, made by Ronaldo during the Globe Soccer Awards, have sparked widespread backlash among fans and football personalities alike.
Ronaldo’s Provocative Claims

While accepting the Best Middle East Player award in Dubai, Ronaldo lauded the Saudi Pro League over Ligue 1.
The Portuguese forward stated:“Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course. France only has PSG. The rest are finished.”
The Al-Nassr forward also highlighted the challenges of playing in Saudi Arabia’s extreme heat and emphasized the competitiveness of the league.
“It is difficult to become champion in Saudi. Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are strong, but I believe we have to push hard to be champions.”
In a previous report from Sports Buddy, former French midfielder Emmanuel Petit also criticized Cristiano Ronaldo’s comment about the French league.
Rami’s Blunt Response

Reacting during a live Twitch stream shared by Actu Foot, Rami dismissed Ronaldo’s remarks as exaggerated and baseless.
“He talks s**. You want me to show you images of the defenders in Saudi Arabia? It’s not because he’s had a crazy career that as soon as he says something, it’s the truth. Put him in Ligue 1 and he gets eaten.”*
Rami, a self-proclaimed Ronaldo admirer, suggested the statement was more about PR than reality.
“I’m Team Cristiano Ronaldo, but he made a mistake. Saying the Saudi league is better than Ligue 1 brings a lot of people with him, but it’s not true.”
