Barcelona has issued an official statement regarding the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the 2025 campaign.

The club’s financial difficulties have prevented the two summer arrivals from being registered on Barcelona’s wage bill for the new year.

Despite a series of legal appeals, the Catalan giants were unable to secure the necessary permissions before the registration deadline, leaving Olmo and Víctor ineligible to represent the team beyond January 2, 2025.

Denial of Extension Request

Speculation emerged earlier today that Barcelona had requested an extension to La Liga’s registration deadline.

However, the club has moved swiftly to dismiss these claims. In an official statement published on their website and social media platforms, Barcelona clarified:

“FC Barcelona informs that it has applied for a new license for the players Daniel Olmo and Pau Víctor to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

The Club would like to deny having requested or receiving any moratorium to any governing body for these inscriptions.”

Shortly after Barcelona’s announcement, La Liga issued its own statement, confirming the lack of progress on the matter:

“FC Barcelona has not presented any alternative that, in compliance with LaLiga’s economic control regulations, would allow it to register any player after 2 January.”

What’s Next for Olmo and Víctor?

With the registration window closing imminently and no resolution in sight, Barcelona faces the prospect of losing two key squad members for the second half of the season.

Both players’ futures hinge on whether the club can navigate its financial challenges to comply with La Liga’s strict economic regulations.
