Bayern Munich have issued their first official approach to take Luis Diaz, but Liverpool have acted swiftly to turn down the German club’s £59m offer. Despite the Colombian winger reportedly having informed the Reds he wishes to leave this summer, Liverpool are insisting he is not for sale.

WHAT HAPPENED
According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich have offered £59 million (\\\\$78.8m) for Diaz in an attempt to sign the 28-year-old player for the 2025-26 season at the Allianz Arena. The offer, however, is much less than Liverpool’s valuation, with the Premier League champions demanding over €100 million if they were ever to consider selling him.
Diaz, who joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022, has expressed a wish to seek a fresh challenge. But the Anfield hierarchy view him as an integral member of Arne Slot’s future plans and have indicated they will not sanction a transfer.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Luis Diaz was instrumental to Liverpool’s premier league-winning 2024–25 season, scoring 13 goals from 36 games. His speed, skill, and work ethic made him an ever-present threat on the left wing and an irreplaceable element of Liverpool’s attack.

Costing the Reds an initial £37.5m, rising to £50m with add-ons, Diaz has far surpassed that outlay. His contract runs until 2027, giving Liverpool a firm negotiating position — and no rush to sell.

DID YOU KNOW?

Bayern Munich, with new masters, are considering other possible targets in case the Diaz transfer falls through. They had previously targeted Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard too, and attention is now turning to Trossard’s strike partner Gabriel Martinelli as the German giants continue their search for cover in attack.

WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

As the Diaz drama unfolds, however, Liverpool remain fixated on strengthening their attack. Arne Slot is prioritizing the capture of a new center-forward, and the club have reportedly drafted up a five-man wish list. Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is included among the top targets for consideration.

Though Diaz has made his intentions known, Liverpool are unmoved. Unless Bayern or some other club presents a far better offer, the Colombian will likely remain at Anfield, at least for another year.
