Portuguese forward Joao Felix is under heavy criticism following reports of his imminent £43.7 million (€51m/\$56m) move from Chelsea to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
Among the sharpest voices is that of FIFA-licensed agent Jen Mendelewitsch, who has accused Felix of prioritising profit over passion in his football career.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Mendelewitsch launched a blistering critique of the 25-year-old, branding him a “money-printing machine.”
> “Joao Felix hasn’t played football for a long time. He’s a printer. A money-printing machine, and with his own approval, since he doesn’t rebel,” she said.
The agent expressed frustration over what she perceives as Felix’s passive acceptance of financially driven career moves, rather than taking control and choosing sporting projects that align with his immense talent.
> “He should have taken charge of his career a long time ago. When you know his potential, it’s sad,” she added.
From Golden Boy to Nomad
Once one of Europe’s most promising stars, Felix’s trajectory has taken a puzzling turn since his €126 million switch to Atletico Madrid in 2019. Loan spells at Chelsea, Barcelona, and AC Milan have failed to reignite the spark, with the latest Saudi move seen by many as a step away from top-level competition.
> “Atletico, Chelsea, Milan, even Barcelona under Xavi – those were all great opportunities. But instead of fighting for his place, he’s chasing contracts,” Mendelewitsch lamented.
Benfica Return Abandoned for Bigger Paycheck
There were whispers of a fairytale return to Benfica, the club where Felix first exploded onto the scene. However, Mendelewitsch believes financial considerations ultimately swayed the forward.
“A return to Benfica would’ve made more sense, but I think he didn’t want to make that financial sacrifice,” she said.
