Real Madrid Basketball has completed the signing of Nigerian-American forward Chuma Okeke from the NBA. The 26-year-old joins the Spanish giants on a two-year deal that will run until June 30, 2027. The move marks Okeke’s first venture into European basketball after five seasons in the NBA.
Okeke brings with him experience from stints at the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, and most recently, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Over 203 NBA games, he built a reputation as a reliable two-way player, averaging 6.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and nearly one steal per game.
Impact Signing for EuroLeague Ambitions
Real Madrid sees Okeke as a key addition in their quest for domestic and continental glory. His recent performance in the G League, where he averaged 16.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, further underlines his readiness to take on a starring role in Europe.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Okeke expressed excitement about the new challenge:
“It’s going to be a new experience, something very exciting for me. What I want is to start and win, and continue to have fun playing basketball. Over the years, I’ve prepared my body to withstand whatever it takes. I’m in really good shape and close to my peak.”
He described himself as a “versatile player” who can create plays, lead offensively, rebound, and defend, attributes that made him a highly valued signing for the Madrid outfit.
A New Chapter for Okeke

Real Madrid’s decision to bring in Okeke reflects the club’s continued ambition to strengthen their squad for both the EuroLeague and Liga Endesa campaigns.
With his physicality, skill set, and drive, Chuma Okeke is expected to become a vital contributor in Madrid’s push for silverware.
