Following a dismal performance that saw Manchester United finish a shocking 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final to Tottenham, new manager Ruben Amorim is sparking a cultural overhaul at the club.
The Portuguese tactician, appointed in November to replace Erik ten Hag, is focusing on improving every fine detail, starting from how the team eats together.
Team Dinners as a Tool for Unity
Speaking to MUTV during United’s pre-season tour of the United States, Amorim highlighted how seemingly minor changes like communal dinners are part of a broader effort to rebuild the club’s identity.
“Before, they ate and left right away. Now, they wait for each other. They stay longer, and you can feel it in the noise, it’s getting better,” Amorim explained. “It’s not going to win games, but it’s going to help us win games.”
He emphasized how day-to-day organization, including nutrition, training preparation, and recovery, has improved under his leadership.
“We are better in every detail… I’m not concerned with small things like I was last year. Those things help me to focus more on the team. When it helps the technical staff, it helps the players,” he added.
A Clear Message to the Squad
Amorim is clear that buying from players is non-negotiable. “The players are working really well and they understand they need to give 100%. If they don’t, it’s going to be hard for them here.”
With signings like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo arriving this summer, and a Premier League opener against Arsenal looming on August 17, Amorim is determined to use every edge, on and off the field, to get United back to winning ways.
