Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has issued a strong message to his players as the club prepares for a crucial 2025/2026 campaign. The Portuguese manager, known for his discipline-first approach, made it clear that underperformers will no longer be shielded behind closed doors.
“I show you in front of everybody,” Amorim said bluntly, when asked how he handles players who fail to meet training standards. “If you don’t train the right way, I have footage. And I’ll use it.”
Setting the Tone Ahead of the New Season
After a dismal finish last season, 15th in the Premier League and a Europa League final loss to Tottenham, Amorim is determined to restore pride at Old Trafford.
The 40-year-old tactician, who replaced Erik ten Hag, has already brought in attacking reinforcements like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. But his biggest focus is changing the mentality.
“I don’t treat the players as babies,” Amorim continued. “They have rules now. That changes how you train, how you prepare. I’m always on top.”
Garnacho Singled Out to Set Example
Reports from inside the camp suggest Alejandro Garnacho was publicly criticized in the dressing room for his lackluster training efforts. The incident served as a wake-up call to the rest of the squad.
The former Sporting CP coach has also expressed his long-term ambition: “I want to stay at Manchester United for another 20 years,” he said, referencing legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
As the Red Devils gear up for a fresh start, Amorim’s no-nonsense approach could be exactly what the club needs to rebuild its winning identity.
