Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up on his record-breaking €75 million transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray, revealing the key reasons behind his decision to reject offers from several top European and Saudi clubs.
Osimhen, who was heavily linked with Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, and Al Hilal, disclosed that the decision to join Galatasaray was influenced largely by his family, especially his daughter.
“It’s a decision I made earlier than expected,” Osimhen said during his official unveiling at Rams Park on Saturday. “My daughter is more inclined to Galatasaray than I am.

She speaks of me and the club all the time with her Turkish friends. All my family love Gala, so I couldn’t see a reason not to be here.”
A New Chapter in Turkey

Galatasaray finalized the signing of Osimhen last Thursday, paying a club-record €75 million, the highest fee ever paid for a player in Turkish football history. The 27-year-old Nigerian becomes one of the highest-paid African footballers in 2025.
As reported by Sport buddy, Osimhen is the most expensive player in the history of Turkish league. Reflecting on his arrival, Osimhen expressed deep admiration for the club’s fanbase.
“Apart from the fans and their passion, my daughter and family made this decision much easier. That’s why I call it home. I will enjoy myself till I’m not needed here,” he stated.
Osimhen’s Impact and Expectations
Osimhen had already made his mark in Turkey during a previous loan stint, where he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists.
Now officially a Galatasaray player, he is expected to lead the line as the club aims to defend its Super Lig title and make a mark in European competitions.
