Liverpool began their Premier League season with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield, on an evening dedicated to the memory of the late Diogo Jota.
The match was briefly overshadowed by a stoppage following an alleged racist abuse incident directed at Antoine Semenyo.
Ekitike and Gakpo Shine

The Reds took the lead in the 36th minute when debutant Hugo Ekitike burst past Marcos Senesi and slotted calmly into the bottom corner. Moments after the break, Ekitike assisted Cody Gakpo, who beat two defenders before finishing superbly for 2-0.
Bournemouth struck back, with Semenyo scoring twice, first from close range in the 61st minute, then finishing a blistering solo run in the 75th to level the match. Defensive lapses, particularly from Ibrahima Konate, left Liverpool vulnerable.
Chiesa’s Heroics and Salah’s Sealer

In the 88th minute, substitute Federico Chiesa smashed home a stunning volley from a loose clearance to restore Liverpool’s lead. Mohamed Salah then capped the night with a trademark weaving run and precise finish to secure all three points.
Ekitike was the standout performer with a goal and an assist, while Chiesa’s cameo proved decisive. New boss Arne Slot will be pleased with the attack but concerned by moments of defensive chaos.
