Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana sparked speculation after eagle-eyed fans noticed he had removed all mention of the Blues from his Instagram profile.
The move quickly fueled rumours of unrest at Stamford Bridge, but manager Enzo Maresca has moved to clarify the situation.
Maresca Provides Clarity
Addressing the concerns, Maresca confirmed there is no issue between Fofana and the club. He explained that the French centre-back, who has endured an injury-plagued spell since joining Chelsea, is simply focused on regaining full fitness.
“I spoke with Wes yesterday. He is very, very happy,” Maresca said.
“First of all, because he is back from injury and joining all the sessions with us. He was on the bench against Palace and could get some minutes tomorrow. He is very happy and we are very happy.”
Online Abuse and Recovery
Unfortunately, Fofana’s social media change triggered a wave of abuse. Maresca condemned the situation, stressing that such actions are unacceptable but beyond their control.
For Chelsea, the priority remains getting Fofana fully integrated into the squad. The 23-year-old is expected to be available for Friday’s clash against West Ham in the London derby, after being listed among the substitutes in the season opener against Crystal Palace.
