Galatasaray continued their perfect start to the Turkish Super Lig with a 3-1 win over Rizespor on Saturday evening. Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen found the net once more, helping the champions reach two major club records.

The team has now scored thirteen goals and conceded only once this season, equaling their best goal difference of plus twelve at this stage.

This milestone was last achieved in the 1994-1995 and 1998-1999 seasons.

In another mark of excellence, Galatasaray began a league campaign with four straight wins for the second year in a row. The only previous time this occurred was between 1960 and 1962.

Osimhen Leads the Charge

Osimhen, who joined the Istanbul side permanently during the summer, scored his second goal of the season in the 65th minute.

He rose above the defense to head home a cross from Abdülkerim Bardakcı, doubling Galatasaray’s lead after Davidson Sanchez had opened the scoring.

The Super Eagles striker had also scored in last week’s 4-0 win against Kayserispor, showcasing his sharp form.

His contribution was vital once again as Mauro Icardi added a late goal to seal the result. Dal Varešanović scored Rizespor’s lone reply with seventeen minutes left.

From Loan Hero to Key Star

Last season, Osimhen was on loan at Galatasaray and played a key role in their league and cup double, scoring thirty-seven goals in all competitions and assisting eight times.

His permanent move has further strengthened the team as they chase another title.

The 26-year-old is now set to join Nigeria’s national team for World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Rwanda in September.

The Turkish giants will aim to extend their winning run and possibly set new records in the coming weeks.

With Osimhen and Icardi in strong form, the club looks ready for another dominant season both domestically and in Europe.
