Manchester United shot-stopper Andre Onana has set an unwanted record in the Premier League despite his team’s win over Newcastle on Thursday.
Onana made history at Manchester United by becoming the first goalkeeper in the club’s illustrious history to face 200 shots in a single Premier League season, according to Centre Goal on X.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper, who joined the Red Devils from Inter Milan last summer, has experienced a mixed debut campaign at Old Trafford.
Despite United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle United in their final home game of the season, Onana was unable to keep a clean sheet, conceding the club’s 58th goal of the league campaign.
Andre Onana’s rollacoster debut season at United
The 27-year-old Andre Onana, who now leads the Premier League in saves with 147, made five stops in the match. However, his last clean sheet dates back to March 9, in a 2-0 win against Everton.

Onana’s first season at Manchester United has been a rollercoaster, with the goalkeeper facing a staggering 200 shots—the most of any United keeper in a single Premier League season. The former Ajax man will undoubtedly be looking to bounce back next season, as Erik ten Hag’s side aims to mount a stronger challenge for the title.
With Onana’s shot-stopping abilities under scrutiny, the pressure will be on him to improve United’s leaky defence after a challenging 2023/24 campaign.
